Kelly and I set-out on a quest to find two special needs homes that we had heard about in Tegucigalpa. We showed-up at Bencaleth unannounced. The founders and directors, Rafael & Dora, were there and graciously welcomed us at their facility. They personally toured us through the buildings. The entire building was clean and free from odors. Every room was immaculate, as if they were expecting an inspection. All of the special needs children were clean and being engaged in some type of therapy or activity. The staff wore uniforms. Every square inch of their property is being efficiently utilized. They have a small garden, a little tilapia pond, classrooms, therapy rooms, nicely decorated bedrooms, well-equipped showers and bathrooms, a chapel, and even a civic park. We left this meeting extremely impressed with the directors. Anyone who works with special needs children should visit their facility and learn from them.
